Daily Activities

Morning/Afternoon Child Care: For the duration of the program, children will enjoy a structured playing environment, where they will be safely monitored by a member of our staff, as well as help to organize the day’s lesson, set up the classroom, and do work from the previous lesson.

Work Time: This time is spent participating in lessons and completing self-selected work. The activities during this time will change depending on the child’s needs and interests and can vary from whole class participation and discussion to small group work and individual activities.

Story Time: This time is spent listening to the teacher read a story as well as taking turns to read. This helps to foster language building as well as imagination and speaking confidence.

Lunch Time: The students eat their home-made lunches and enjoy a break from working.

Outdoor Playtime: A well-rounded healthy student does not only require academic exercise but physical exercise. Outdoor playtime enables the student to enjoy some unstructured and fun release of energy which will help him or her focus during work time.

Nap Time: The students use this time to calm down after playing. It provides a well-needed rest, as well as re-energizes and focuses them for the rest of the day.

Enrichment Activities

Arts & Crafts: Children will express their creativity and individuality through arts and crafts.

Music and Movement: Children will have the chance to interact with various musical instruments.

Cooking: Children will enjoy an artistic approach to following recipes and tasting, and will learn about nutrition and the food pyramid.

Soccer: Kids’ soccer provides for building team work and friendship, as well as, adequate aerobic exercise.

Water Play: Children will enjoy water activities appropriate to their age.

Neighborhood Walks and Library Visits: Children will get a chance to explore the neighborhood and visit the Berkeley Public Library for Story Time.

Science Projects: Special projects will help children explore the natural sciences and physical sciences in fun ways.
