The GMIS parent community shares a belief in multi-lingual education. Most of the parents are from multi-ethnic and multi-cultural backgrounds. As a group, parents work together to support both the teachers and the school, help enrich the children’s education, and build a community where current families, and families not yet enrolled in GMIS, can grow. Families are encouraged to become involved in their child’s education as this involvement is essential to the child’s overall success.
Opportunities for parent involvement include:
- Getting to know each other at morning coffee & pastries and other parent social events.
- Participating in Parent Education hosted by the school Director, teachers, or guest speakers to inform parents about various topics of interest (i.e. positive discipline, silent journey through various developmental stages, language acquisition, etc.).
- Volunteering to drive and/or chaperone for field trips.
- Volunteering to bring home laundry or provide snacks for the week. This simple task directly helps the teachers and children on a weekly basis. Parents are highly encouraged to sign up for laundry and snacks as the first step to contributing to their child’s classroom.
