Presentations that bring 'IDEAS' to life.

At GMIS we provide opportunities for our children to learn about real life skills direct from people in the community who have knowledge and experience. The presentations which they give always leave our children in awe and wonder!

Lawrence Hall of Science Workshops

Every two weeks, a teacher and volunteers from the Lawrence Hall of Science visit our GMIS campus to conduct workshops designed to spark our children’s interest in science. These sessions include activities such as “All About Air,” where children have fun creating bubbles of all sizes, and “Motion Commotion,” a workshop where students engage in building assorted ramps to propel a ball along, exploring fundamental principles of physics and motion.

A visit from a Fire Fighter

A firefighter visited our school and gave children a great presentation. Children learned to call 911 in an emergency and firetruck equipment. Officer Cole also came to our school to talk about the role of the police, bike safety, and who to call or ask for help in an emergency.

East Bay Vivarium

The East Bay Vivarium came to visit our children and gave a presentation showing spiders, reptiles, turtles, salamanders and a huge snake. Children were able to hold and touch them which they loved!

Dental Presentation

UC Berkeley’s Pre-Dental Group came to share the importance of a healthy diet that helps us build strong teeth, children were modeled proper teeth brushing techniques and each of them got a chance to practice whilst singing fun teeth brushing songs.
