Holly Laoshi

I was born in Hubei, China, but also spent many years living and working in Beijing. I have always felt a strong connection with young children. However, it was my experience as a parent volunteer at El Cerrito Preschool Cooperative that first inspired me to seek a career as a preschool teacher. After taking Early Childhood Development classes at Contra Costa College, I decided to study the Montessori method and went on to earn a Montessori Early Childhood Education Certificate from the American Montessori Society. It is important to me to raise my own two children bilingually, in Chinese and English. In fact, I sent my own daughter to GMIS. I truly enjoy being a part of the teaching team of GMIS, where I have worked for 8 years.
